About the Club

20 the Annual Beach Bash

The Beaches A1A Parrothead Club started back in 1996 with a handful of Jimmy Buffett fans looking to enjoy each other’s company and tropical music. We started meeting at various bars and restaurants around the beach occasionally having live music played by local musicians. The club began to grow with interest from more and more people from around Jacksonville.

As a sanctioned Parrothead Club we are required to raise money for charitable organizations such as the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, the local Alzheimer’s Association and the Sea Turtle Patrol. To raise money, the club holds parties and collected donations.

Beaches A1A Parrothead Club began to be a major force at the beach and beyond. We’ve participated in the Opening of the Beaches Parade and our floats have been award winning. At the Alzheimer’s Walk in San Marco, our members have raised record amounts of donations along with our members providing the entertainment. Our annual Parrothead Polar Plunge in Atlantic Beach has been a newsworthy event.

A lot of these things are still alive and well with the Parrotheads; along with additional, and sometimes kooky, events.

One of the highlights we’ve enjoyed every year is the Annual Beach Bash and Volleyball Tournament. In over 13 years, this has transformed into a weekend event with live music, fun at the beach, and a volleyball tournament, making for fun in the sun with Parrotheads coming from all over Florida, several States beyond, and even Canada!

Our club has been a success because of the wonderful leaders and presidents that have created fun ways to give back to the community and enable us to “Party with a Purpose”. Over the years we’ve had Elizabeth Teague, Debbie Mayer, Charlie Yelton, and Jill Wright as President.

So come join us for a little time away and make history.

Tropically Yours,

  1. The A1A Parrot Head Club looks super active – great job! Do you guys need a Jimmy Buffett Tribute musician for any future events?

  2. I paid the dues in November or December and thought I was paid up for the year, but I haven’t been receiving the emails noticing of the meetings and the socials. Can you please tell me why I don’t seem to be on the roster any more?
